About Melanie

My name is Melanie Yamaguchi and I am an award-winning communications and social media management professional with over 10 years of experience in digital media, content creation, storytelling and journalism. ​

I am currently based in Hawaii as a digital executive producer for Hawaii News Now in Honolulu, where I lead the station's digital team, as well as report, write and edit stories, and develop social media content.

​

I have a proven history of leadership and collaboration toward compelling, informative and cohesive news stories and brand awareness content across multiple platforms. Over the span of my career, my work has led me and my team to earn multiple national and regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, Emmy Awards and Society of Professional of Journalists Hawaii Chapter Awards.​ 

 

I earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication from the University of Washington and a master of mass communication from Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
